Does anyone have a definitive guide to setting up the link for Apple School Manager to InTune, and getting devices enrolled and configured etc? I’ve tried all sorts but just keep coming up with issues. If anyone can point me in the right direction to some thinking that starts right at the beginning, and ends with a fully enrolled/managed/configured device, then that would be amazing. cheers

Keyboard Crashes

Keyboard Crashes Has anyone experienced issues with keyboards crashing on computers recently? Over the past two weeks, a few machines (Windows 11 23H2 and 25H2) have had keyboards suddenly stop working completely. The Num Lock light doesn’t respond etc., and the keyboard becomes totally unresponsive. However, as soon as the keyboard is plugged into a different USB port, it starts working again without any issues (apart from a couple of times) Just checking if others have encountered something similar before I start investigating further.

Google support contact for IP rate limiting

Does anyone know or have a contact for Google that works with IP rate limiting. Basically our school has been getting random Google Captcha Robot when doing google searches and its because Google is putting a temporary ban on our public IP. We've tried load balancing acrossed a subnet of IP's but the problem continues. We are a Google Workspace school but when I've reached out to support for Workspace they won't help me. If anyone knows of anyone at Google that can help, could you please DM their details that would be greatly appreciated. It is a very intermittent issue that started back in February this year.

Last weekend was "update weekend" at home when I make sure the five Windows machines in the house are patched and have up-to-date software. I got to thinking about whether it would save me time to set up Action1 for this. I can't see any licensing/T&C type reason why not. Has anyone done this and was it useful in an environment that likely has a higher incidence of more esoteric software?

Syncing Local Folder with OneDrive

Hi folks, This is something I'm trying to do on my home computer, to sync a local folder with OneDrive. Both ChatGPT and google say it can be done using the MKLINK /J command, but although the linked folder appears in OneDrive on the PC, it doesn't appear in OneDrive (having checked almost 24 hours later). Anyone else got MKLINK to work, or know of an alternative way to get it working? Thanks

Intune with Google Workspace

Our school primarily uses Google workspace but we have wanted to explore the idea of getting rid of our physical servers due to the rising costs and lack of budgets. We have A3 Microsoft Licenses which we use for PowerBI mainly but are planning on enrolling devices to intune which is included. My question is has anyone sucessfully been able to setup intune to work alongside GCPW so that end users are able to login to the managed windows machines with their Google accounts? Or anyone ran into issues with this. Ideally, I'd like to not confuse staff having a seperate Microsoft login to logon to windows to etc.

Currently trying to think my way around this -- we have quite a few older shared ipads with 32gb of storage. Which - with all the will in the world - will not handle ios 26 plus all the apps we have on for student use. i do have plans to sort them out and take some of the bigger apps (Garageband, iMovie) off to specialist iPads but they still try and update prompting messages about storage and updates. Is there any way to block updates on these iPads - mosyle/jamf/ etc aren't clever enough to see the space available and decide that the ios update is too big for this machine.

Chrome Sync Without User Intervention

All I ever wanted was Chrome Sync to be automatic just how Edge works but sadly no. I wanted to know if anyone may have figured out the sign-in options without any user interventions? I would not like like to use GCPW to sign in using the Google UI as that can be confusing for some. Has anyone figured out a way? So far i have Staff Portal/Student Portal that opens on first use which is a Google Sites and then adjusted the URL to match my school domain which then SSOs into microsoft and then logs in next is the pop up box prompting to ask for sync. this is so far the most efficient method and bypasses the 2-Step verification and forced sign in.

Wow! I had no idea that you could almost invisibly disable a playback device in Windows as a non-admin user! Right click over speaker > Sounds > Playback tab See all playback devices e.g. headphones and HDMI screen. Disable HDMI device. From that point onwards only the headphones will appear in the usual selector above the volume level and you would need to reverse the above procedure to fix. No way to lock it down AFAIK.

Hi , I have researched this and cant really find a answer - We have lots of new laptops trolleys for "Internal Use" only , I want to prevent these ( Laptops ) from being taken home . We currently have a department that do this despite being told not to . I’m trying to find a conditional access policy that prevents this , But it seems Login ( Especially if already Cached ) will still allow them to login fine . Anyone done anything similar ? Thanks

VEO sports recording and DPA

Just wondering if anyone here is using Veo recorder in their schools and if they are, if they had any issues with the Data Protection side. We are going through it and their data processing statement has lots about data being sent to the US, interesting data sub processors, and that they take on the role of Data Controller to use the data for their own purposes. Our DPO is strongly against any of that, which I don't disagree with, but I know these are used extensively throughout schools and sports clubs so wondering how this aligns. I can't believe we are the first to notice this, but it feels that the contract is unworkable for a school.

Our DT department use Tinkercad (https://www.tinkercad.com/) and we can access the site, however pupils are unable to create designs; staff can create things such as: However when pupils login, they just get a loading screen like this: I used https://get.webgl.org/ to check if WebGL is working and yes it is. The issue occurs when pupils are logged into the computers, but there is no problem when pupils are logged into Chromebooks! has anyone experienced this?

Just pulled 15 (maybe up to 18, need to go and check) Unifi NanoHD's out of a primary school. I know they have been used for many years, and are only Wifi 5, but if anyone wants to expand their stock or existing deployment, let me know. SAR, Printing Emails

So the first SAR or at least the first I'm involved in has come through. The HT asked if I could help so using Microsoft Purview I exported the emails into a .pst and after removing any unneeded emails I'm left with just under 600. The HT wants them printing so using Outlook I did a few test prints but my name is at the top of every print in big bold letters and it doesn't show the sender so it looks as if I sent the email. Is Outlook the software to use or would something else be better? Thanks.

User Desktop Preferences without roaming profiles

With wanting to remove roaming profiles to speed up logins, what does everyone use for end users when logging onto multiple machines to allow users to still see/keep their office recent documents list, pin folders to explorer which will travel with them across all computers they login to, etc. Don't particularly want to just use local profiles as means their setup doesnt say consistent, then if they log in elsewhere things will not be the same. thanks

Hi all, I have raised a Microsoft feedback request asking for the Teams Assignments button in Teams to be renamable at tenant level. Who knows whether Microsoft will listen or not, although I did have some success with a Sway-related request I submitted a couple of years ago, so it is worth a try. For me, this is mainly a UK education terminology issue. I think Google got this right with Google Classroom. The name immediately makes sense to staff, pupils and parents. In our schools, Assignments is much bigger than the name suggests. It is not just homework or a one-off task area. It can effectively become the digital classroom space where staff share work, collect evidence, give feedback and manage learning activity. In the UK, I think many schools would more naturally call this Classroom, Classwork or Learning Activities. “Assignments” feels quite US-focused and can make the feature sound narrower than it really is, which can affect staff understanding and adoption. For MATs especially, being able to set this wording centrally would help keep language consistent across schools and make Teams easier to explain to staff, pupils and parents. I would be interested to know what others think. Do you find the term Assignments works well in your schools, or does it create confusion with staff, pupils or parents? If you could rename it, what would you call it? Please vote or comment on the Microsoft feedback item if you agree: Allow renaming of Assignments at a tenant level. · Community
